Inspired by the badly translated opening scene in Zero Wing, fans began doctoring photos placing the phrase "All Your Base Are Belong to Us" in all sorts of unlikely spots. Bad_CRC compiled many of these images from message boards into a flash movie which was widely distributed around the internet. AYBABTU became one of the most searched for phrases on the internet and the media picked up on the craze.
